We have had glitches in the past, and some posts lost their downloads. Basically, I am taking down all posts (650 posts on the site), and checking each one to see if they have their download, and if not adding it. Most do not. Once I take it down, it will repost (1 per day) until I am caught up and can work on new posts. Note that MySword reads theWord modules and esword modules now, so use them if you have them. Check these sites twmodules.com and eswordlibrary.com
If you can use these mysword modules in your Christian life and ministry, I need a big favor from you. I need you to pray for me. I sustain this website alone, out of my own living expense money. The Google Adsense ads have been adding to my income at the rate of 5 US cents per day for Google Adsense Ads on 32 of my sites, all of them combined earn me a nickel per day except on bad days when it is less. I have been hacked continually, and these sites breakdown or are hacked, so I need your prayers. Please pray that God would protect this labor of love

In this five chapter work, Pastor Younce (Baptist) examines the issue of speaking in tongues. He examines the purpose of tongues as in evidence to the Messiah, to the Jews, and to its message. The concentration of the gifts of the Spirit, the consummation of the gifts of the Spirit, the control of the gifts of the Spirit, and the commission, concern, and conclusion.

PREFACE

In my examination of tongues, verse by verse from the Bible, I have purposely refrained from quoting the publications of tongues advocates, and then refuting their claims by Scripture. I felt it is far more important to first examine the Scriptures, and let Them speak for Themselves. The Christian who will study the Scriptures, honestly and sincerely, will be able, by themselves, to refute any claim of those who advocate tongues are for today. This eliminates the need to saturate this book with their claims.

May the Lord help each of us to,

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a work-man that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (15)

“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” (2Ti 2:15-16)

Dr. Max D. Younce
FOREWARD

If tongues are for today, I want them. If tongues are not for today, I do not want to be deceived. The only way for any person to be convinced is if they are willing take the word of God, examine it honestly, and stand 100% on “Thus saith the Lord”! It can be stated no better than Isa 8:20, “To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. “

Of all the tongues advocates I have talked with, they almost always credit speaking in tongues with their desire to witness, their enthusiasm, their love for the Lord and … on and on it goes. It seems to supplement what they need to fulfill their Christian life, or make it complete.

I have never spoken in tongues. After examining the Scriptures, I am sure that I never will, because they are not for today. Isn’t it amazing? I have everything in Christ and more, without speaking in tongues, than those who claim tongues. The Christian life is exciting and fulfilling. There is nothing more thrilling than witnessing and leading people to Christ. Three things found in Eph 6:17-20 are responsible for the Christian’s motivation and enthusiasm:

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (17)

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (18)

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, (19)

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” – Eph 6:17-20

Let God Speak to You. “Take… the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Let us speak to God. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…”

Let Us Speak to the Lost. “…and for me…that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.”

This is all the “spiritual high” we will ever need. Tongues advocates are supplementing the speaking in tongues for something they are missing from Eph 6:17-20.

My motivation, encouragement, and enthusiasm comes from God speaking to me and my speaking to Him. The excitement of the Christian life is found in defending the faith, witnessing, and leading others to Christ. I am fully satisfied with this, and need nothing more. I have all I need in Christ … not tongues.

THE ANVIL – GOD’S WORD

LAST EVE I passed beside a blacksmith’s door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then, looking in, I saw upon the floor
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“To wear and batter all these hammer so?”
“Just one,” said he, and then, with twinkling eye,
“The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.”

And so, thought I, the anvil of God’s Word,
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed – the hammers gone.

Buy me Steak Taco!
You know, I work hard at my websites trying to provide you with good material that is sound doctrinally-speaking and of interest to God's people. It is hard work, but I don't mind doing it, and I feel called to the ministry, and God will bless me after all is said and done. But in the meantime, I do need to cover my expenses. I have a total of 34 websites (half English and half Spanish), and each one costs about $10 per month to keep up. That does not take into consideration my time and effort in writing content. Won't you consider at least a one time donation to this ministry of $10 or $20 dollars? It would be really great if you could gift me and my wife this money so that we could enjoy eating out at least once in a while. (I pay the expenses for these sites out of our living expenses.) God will richly bless you and repay you for your generosity. 1 Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. If you received some value from my websites, consider at lest a small donation. A big donation would really be nice, too though.
