Brown The Devil's Mission of Amusement 7 page article from 1889. Hollywood in the church and her ministries. Brown was a student of C.H Spurgeon.
Excerpts:
Different days demand their own special testimony. The watchman who would be faithful to his Lord and to the city of his God needs to carefully note the signs of the times and to emphasize his witness accordingly. Concerning the testimony needed now, there can be little if any doubt. An evil is in the professed camp of the Lord, that is so gross, so brazen in its impudence, that the most shortsighted of spiritual men can hardly fail to notice it.... Amusement for the people is the leading article advertised by each... until the hideous fact has been proved up to the hilt, that "amusement" is ousting "the preaching of the Gospel" as the great attraction... The Concert is fast becoming as much a recognized part of church life as the Prayer Meeting; and it is already, in most places, far better attended.
"Providing recreation for the people" will soon be looked upon as a necessary part of Christian work, and as binding upon the Church of God, as though it were a Divine command, unless some strong voices are raised which will make themselves heard.

evc02 Created or Evolved? A Refutation of Evolution
Topics: Evolution violates the First Law of Thermodynamics (the law of Conservation of Energy). | Evolution violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics (dissipation of energy). | The Law of Bio-Genesis where life can only come from some other pre-existent life, thus only perpetuating its own type. | There is no evidence in the fossil registry that supports evolution. | The fossil registry has failed to document even a single “missing link” that would verify beyond doubt the link between ape and man. | Java Man-Ape (Pithecanthropus Erectus Erect man-ape) | Evolution fails to explain the existence of even a “simple cell.”.

Buy me Steak Taco! You know, I work hard at my websites trying to provide you with good material that is sound doctrinally-speaking and of interest to God's people. It is hard work, but I don't mind doing it, and I feel called to the ministry, and God will bless me after all is said and done. But in the meantime, I do need to cover my expenses. I have a total of 34 websites (half English and half Spanish), and each one costs about $10 per month to keep up. That does not take into consideration my time and effort in writing content. Won't you consider at least a one time donation to this ministry of $10 or $20 dollars? It would be really great if you could gift me and my wife this money so that we could enjoy eating out at least once in a while. (I pay the expenses for these sites out of our living expenses.) God will richly bless you and repay you for your generosity. 1 Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. If you received some value from my websites, consider at lest a small donation. A big donation would really be nice, too though.

I am concerned. I have used this bible and reference materials for years and just recently received a new phone and had had to reinstall this. That’s when I came across the website for the first time and then the first article “survey of purgatory. ” Is this a catholic bible study/site or based on Catholic teachings. Purgatory is definitely not a biblical doctrine. I was about to begin to support this ministry, but first I require some answers. Thanks for your help.
Steve Johnson
HI Steve, See Paul’s comment on http://www.myswordmodules.com/hell/binet-e-purgatory-surveyed/ and my response. It is the very same answer. I will repeat it here.
The answer is very simple. First of all, as a library I include works by people with views I do not agree with, for example cults, other denominations, atheists, etc. Although I do not agree with their position, I cannot study and answer their position without “original works”, i.e. works written by these people, for example, Ellen White of Seventh Day Adventists. So although I do include them, I want to clearly label them before you use them. (Other Bible software websites do the same, but they do not label them clearly).
Secondly, this particular work I felt was valuable because not being Catholic, I don’t know much about it except what I have read and this would give me a survey of that material without having to go any further. That is valuable in itself. I label these works as Catholic, Jehovah’s Witness, even some Mormons, etc. because I see some usefulness in the work as far as studying their position. I have a Mormon work on how to teach a Sunday School lesson on twmodules.com, and again, I do not see where being a Mormon detracts so much from what he says.
If you do not want to download the work, don’t. Thanks for writing. – David Cox
